JOB DUTIES

The responsibilities of the Claim Examiner include investigating and evaluating coverage, liability and loss, and as appropriate recommend denial or negotiate and settle assigned property damage and bodily injury claims, directly or through independent adjusters. Successful candidates will work with our client’s insurance contracts, in accordance with those contracts and applicable law, and within documented authority.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Investigate assigned claims reported under insurance contracts assigned to 2B by our client(s), including identification of information and documents needed to evaluate claims, assignment and direction of independent adjusters and review of public and other records and documents. Contact Insureds, Claimants and others by telephone and correspondence regarding information and documents necessary to evaluate and resolve claims, claim processes and related matters, and resolution alternatives.
  • Identify, evaluate and, in consultation with management as necessary, analyze and determine respective rights and obligations of our client, Insureds, Claimants and others under insurance contracts applicable to assigned claims.
  • Analyze, evaluate and estimate liability of Insureds and loss of Claimants for assigned claims and identify all potential losses to which our clients’ contracts of insurance apply. Identify and report potential fraud to the client’s Special Investigation Unit.
  • Establish and monitor appropriate case reserves reflecting available information regarding assigned claims. Maintain and timely review diary of assigned claims.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and timely record of communications with Insureds, Claimants and other third-parties; maintain appropriate Claim File including all required electronic and other records and provide information regarding assigned claims as required.
  • Obtain and maintain all required licenses and certifications; maintain current knowledge of insurance and claim management principles and practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years related work experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Basic knowledge of insurance
  • Work independently within established authority

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years related work experience
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply insurance contracts, insurance claim procedures, loss evaluation methods and claim resolution alternatives
  • Excellent oral and written communication

JOB DUTIES

Investigate and inspect all aspects of losses as claimed by insureds or claimants. This includes recognizing potential issues with contractual commercial insurance coverage contracts and negotiating settlements within authority granted when necessary.

Maintain necessary reports and files to insure prompt and efficient resolution of claims.
Serve as liaison for 2B internal examiners with insureds, claimants and agents, assisting in problem resolution.

Maintain advanced level of knowledge of technical procedures and company policies, procedures and philosophy.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years’ property/casualty claims adjusting experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of transportation/commercial auto coverages required.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience with handling claims involving personal injuries.
  • Computer / Microsoft proficiency
  • Ability to compose and submit claim status reports as required.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a background screen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supplemental insurance education / designations
